I am pictured here portrait style.

Hello,

I am Joshua Lane and I am currently a Senior at Old Dominion University studying to get my bachelor’s in Cybersecurity. I was inspired to pursue a career in this field after I had found out a few years ago that my identity was stolen and experienced firsthand how painful the aftermath can be. Right now, I am taking Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Crime and Computer Applications, Electronic Portfolio Project, and Spanish to finish out my last semester here.

I have come to realized our legal justice system is not aptly equipped to deal with cases like mine, and filing a police report only gives you something to get the debt collectors off your back. This experience made me want to learn more about cybersecurity and why this happened to me. This made me think: How do we protect ourselves and prevent things like this from happening? If you want to hear more about this origin story, click onto the About Me page.

During my time studying and working in Southern Virginia, I have learned how to quickly adapt to any problem that I encounter and solve it using my skills, knowledge, and all available resources.  My personal goal is to become a cybersecurity professional and I look forward to expanding my practical, real world cybersecurity knowledge in the workforce.
