About Me

Pictured above is me eating a giant bowl of mac and cheese.

I believe that cybersecurity is not just about making the network security/information assurance compliant to the law, but rather that it is about addressing needs of current infrastructure as well as the empty space or uncharted territory that each client has. You need to look at how each part of the IT infrastructure interconnects and interacts with all other parts of the company’s digital assets and assets outside of their control. Your knowledge of that in particular is never 100%. A good article I read recently compares it to ancient cartographers assuming they knew everything (where it was) and never having empty spaces on maps. They eventually ran into the Americas (the empty space) and found they had areas they did not know about. In the same way, most IT teams assume they have all the digital assets mapped out and taken care of. This empty space can be your biggest enemy in cybersecurity and needs to be addressed. I want to bring that mentality to the professional world. This is also why I have decided to include Cyber Crime and Computer Applications and other applications coursework as the focus of my school experience.

I want to rise to the challenge that these black-hat hackers pose, and I am confident that I can contribute to the growing effort to defend our critical infrastructure against increasing and ever-changing problems of today’s cyber space.
