This article states 11 things that internet users do that may be illegal. I feel that all of
these things are serious but 5 that I think are the most serious are Sharing Passwords,
Addresses, or Photos of others, Bullying and trolling, Faking your identity online, Recording a
VoIP call without Consent and Collecting information about people younger than 13. Sharing
people’s passwords, addresses and photos can be risky because you could put people in
danger by putting their face and information out there on the internet. Bullying and trolling is
growing more now that social media is so prominent especially with the younger generation and
the effects of this could have terrible outcomes. Faking your identity online by using another
person’s information is also serious because it could be used for fraud or to harm others.
Recording a VoIP call without consent is dangerous because their voice could be used for
malicious purposes like blackmail, fraud, or extortion. Lastly, collecting information about people
younger than 13 violates many laws and can be threatening for the young person involved.
Something that I found interesting that I didn’t know about is that it is also illegal to lie about your
age online.
