How information about data breaches can help researchers

In this day and age, vast amounts of information is stored online. This has caused data
breaches to become a significant threat for cybersecurity. This includes healthcare providers,
financial organizations, and government agencies. No one is exempt from the risk that is posed
by cybercriminals and security weaknesses. For this journal we had to visit

breaches.

I chose to cover the mapping of data breaches that was explained in the website to
explain how researchers can use this information to better understand data breaches. The
website provided maps of affected areas across the United States and what areas were more
affected than others. With the researchers being able to see the high-risk sections allows for
them to better prevent attacks and hopefully understand the “why” behind breaches across
different locations and businesses.
