There are plenty of others majors that are related to Cybersecurity. Some of these majors include Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, and Information Technology (IT). Just like Cybersecurity, all of these other majors include technology-related work. Information technology (IT) is very simulator to cybersecurity as IT’s primary mission is information security and to ensure systems and contents stay the way they are. IT protects data and technology assets. While IT is primarily the protection of information, information science is primarily the management of information in any form. Each one of these 4 majors provide foundational knowledge and skills that can be used to understand cybersecurity challenges. For example, computer science focuses more on programming languages and software development. Understanding both of these can play a crucial role in understanding how cyber attacks are executed and developing effective defenses for them. Engineers design and implement secure systems and networks to prevent unauthorizes access and data breaches which also plays a big role in cybersecurity. Professionals in cybersecurity may use one of these four skills from the other four degrees in their work. In conclusion, a majors such as computer science, engineering, information science, and information technology (IT) are very related to cybersecurity, and can all mix together very well. Skills learned from one of these degrees are guarantee’d to carry over to any of the others.
