There are many ways that engineers make cyber networks safer. They have to determine the requirements for the system protection and create new ways to solve issues that occur in the system. An antivirus is useful for protection against outside infiltration and prevent hackers from injecting ads into people’s accounts to find their information. A network protocol is regularly updated to reflect the new changes and stays open source, so people can contribute to create a stronger network protocol. Encryption is an important security concern of engineers. They have to make sure that the network is secure, so that if people try to collect packets and read the information, none of the information is easily accessed to the regular person. They have to report the network’s condition and vulnerabilities to the stakeholders, so they can get an approval to upgrade the network capabilities or make changes to address the needs of the stakeholders. They might have to create their own security policies for the technical team to follow and document any issues that are found in the system. Depending on the expertise, they can test the network by trying to penetrate the defenses of it. When a network is compromised, the engineer has to report the traces left behind the scene using forensic techniques. The engineer has to notify the stakeholders about the network’s condition. Then, the engineer suggests changes to bring the network online and replace any damaged parts that came from the incident. The engineer has to make sure the network complies with federal guidelines. Finally, the engineer will test new protocols and other software components that can be implemented to keep the network at the optimal security level. Overall, the engineer has to explain the network to the stakeholders, create other ways to boost the performance of the network, and have a backup plan for a breach.
