My 1st Spanish writing

My revised 1st Spanish writing

When we were 1st assigned this writing, I didn’t think it was going to be as hard as it was. As told by the red marks on the 1st paper, I made a lot of mistakes. I know realize that this is the basic information that an average Spanish student should know. So, in the second paper I put all of the correct information with no issues. If anyone were to ask me basic questions about myself in Spanish, I’ll be able to answer.

Exploring Culture

Culture exploration assignment from LingroHub

In this assignment I had to explore people from different countries on the map. I had to read about what each person liked and did in their country. This assignment taught me how to pick out key words from the text. Although I couldn’t fully understand what they were talking about, I understood just enough to understand what they like/do. Before this I didn’t know that Whatsapp was international used. I honestly didn’t know some countries have Whatsapp as their top social media.

Interpersonal Communication

In this video, a classmate and I had a conversation in Spanish. We asked each other about ourselves and school. I did struggle with remembering the Spanish words to form a full sentence and with the pronunciation. After about 30 minutes of practicing and 4 takes, I finally got it together and we finished the video. I now can mostly form sentences in Spanish but I still don’t know enough to hold a conversation. Next time I’m to do this I’d practice a lot more beforehand.

Presentational Speaking

In this video I took you on a tour around my favorite places. I stop by spots and campus and ended in my room. I definitely did expand my Spanish vocabulary during this video. I learned how to say park and how to edit a Tik Tok video. I did fairly well on this video but I do feel like I could’ve incorporated more vocabulary. Next time I will definitely use more vocab and describe the places more.

Presentational Writing

Mi Horario writing

Mi Calendario writing

These are the writing from my calendar. The bottom picture is my 1st copy. In this page I had most of the words down but they were out of order. The top on is my revised paper and it is much better and organized. After the critics I got on this paper, I started to really study the verb + infinitive and conjugation formula. Now I have a grasp of these concepts and will be able to correctly write a paper with those formulas.

Interpretive Listening

Listen and reply assignment from LingoHub

In this assignment, I had to listen to Spanish speaker Blake and reply to him in Spanish. Certain parts of this assignment were easy. Since this was very early on in the class, I barely knew anything so I did struggle a bit. If I were to do this assignment now, I would be able to it confidently.

Interpretive Reading

José Blanco & P. Donley, Vista Higher Learning Scope (Lessons 1-5)

In class we read La elección de una carrera universitaria. This article informed me of the different degree requirements and career paths in various, Spanish speaking, countries. I understood the article very well since it is in English. I find it interesting that in Argentina or Chile, they receive a licenciatura (bacholer’s degree) after 4-6 years which would be equivalent to a master’s degree. All countries basically have the same degree program set up but some countries require you to be enrolled longer than the rest. This reading has helping me gain a greater understanding of degree programs in other countries.
