In today’s world nearly everything revolves around computers and the web. Technology has affected every individual’s life, in some way shape, or form. There are many advantages to using computers and they have helped many individuals quite a bit. However not all things are great with computers and there are some major disadvantages with using them. I think that the first thing that computers have affected positively is communications. As technology continues to advance we can now use many ways of electronic communication including email, video conference, and social networking. Using these practices improves work, relationships, and education. I think that the biggest advantage of online communications and particularly video conferencing is getting to chat with a family member who does not live in the general vicinity. Also, it would be great if a relative was older or lived in another country. The second thing that I believe that computers have really improved is our education system. When the COVID pandemic hit our country many wondered what could become of the education system. Well, since then online education has blossomed. Students are able to get access to online textbooks, videos, and audio that the teacher adds as part of their curriculum. With all the knowledge from the web and computers, students are able to learn so much while not being in the traditional classroom. Also, and likely most importantly students who are unable to attend a given college can do the same work and get the same exact degree by doing courses online. One potential negative of computers could be that we are very vulnerable to susceptibilities. While on the web and on computers, hackers are able to know every single move we make and how to exploit what we do. If these hackers exploit these things they can extract very important and personal information from our computers.
