In today’s day and age, cyberattacks are happening at an increased frequency. In fact, it is believed that these attacks are happening at a rate of every eleven seconds. There are also around an estimated 800,000 hacks per year. These are absolutely staggering statistics. Many small businesses that have just started up, do not have an adequate defense against a cyber attack with many having none at all. So, even with the short arm of predictive knowledge, I feel as though we should act ahead. Since technology is always improving day to day the plan for cybersecurity should also always be improving. For example, the most important thing for a business is to keep all of the software up to date. The business should also constantly maintain its firewalls. It should also train its employees on a regular basis so if an event like this would happen they would instantly know what to do or who to notify. You will always want to stay one step ahead of the hackers who are finding new methods constantly on how to enter a system. To some small businesses, it may not seem worth the cost and may feel like overkill, but it is definitely worth it since an attack could cause a significant finical loss. An example of everything in action could be, a hack that occurred on s small business nearby so the small business in the example is thinking ahead. They would gather all the employees around and discuss if a firewall was breached what would be the first thing that they would do. They would likely call an engineer who is familiar with this system and ask him to come in immediately before significant finical money is lost. The faster an attack is taken care of the least amount of money would be lost.
