Reflective Letter

Self-Assessment and Reflection

My biggest challenge this semester was remembering the vocabulary that I have learned in previous semesters. The best example I can think of for this is when I was typing my answers for the RWPA and creating my rough drafts for the writing project. When thinking of sentence to type, I constantly had to look back into the Genki I textbook to relearn the words and phrases that I used to know. I took on these challenges head on by setting some time aside for me to study the words in the textbook during my free time. Taking time study new and old words allowed me to incorporate them into my homework and helping other friends who are also learning Japanese. I believe that what I gained from these challenges will further better my understanding and fluency of Japanese and will also help me gain a better studying habit for future classes.

Since I struggled with remembering vocabulary, you can see here that my sentences had the exact same sentence patterns and words. Thankfully, my teacher provided some great suggestions for me to use for the second draft, but I still made a couple of mistakes.
