There is no way to actually tell if your computer is safe. This comes from the fact that criminals are always seeking new ways to compromise the systems of unsuspecting users. As the attack methods become more advanced there will always be some new vulnerability that can be discovered and exploited against victims of any number of attack types. What a user needs to do is understand that this risk exists and do all they can to protect themselves online. This can be done utilizing a variety of methods, but the most common of which are firewalls from internet service providers (ISPs) and virtual private networks (VPNs). By utilizing these services most attacks on the internet can be avoided. A good computer protection service is also recommended, as well as ensuring that your computer is kept up to date with the latest patches. As new exploits are discovered patches and updates must continuously be applied so as to keep users from becoming victims to these now aging exploits.
But again, even with all of these measures put into place, a computer can never be assumed safe. Criminals and hackers will always be looking for new ways to exploit you and your machine without being noticed. As the technology advances new methods and exploits will come with those advancements. There is also the contestant threat of user error. Even if a machine is perfectly protected, the user may have unwittingly given an attacker the information needed to take advantage of them. So between the new issues that arise with technological advancement, and the intrinsic vulnerabilities that human interaction produce, no computer should ever be considered completely safe. Computers are always at risk, the degree of that risk depends on the user’s precautions.
