Disciplines that relate to cybersecurity come up in a multitude of ways and in many cases holds important knowledge that aids to other disciplines, such as college majors. The four majors in particular I want to talk about and their relation to cybersecurity are nursing, engineering, psychology, and biology, all of which are offered at ODU. Thanks to technology, medical records no longer need to be written and stored in some kind of physical entity since they can now be stored digitally. However, this means nurses must input all that sensitive information, which requires some time of mechanism, and knowledge of that mechanism, to keep that data safe; this is where knowledge of cybersecurity comes in, as it allows nurses to know how to adequately store information safely and securely. Engineering relates very closely to cybersecurity since a major aspect of the discipline involves various computer systems; this means engineers must be knowledgeable of the various facets of cybersecurity to not only be able to build a system that implements safeguards to protect against cybersecurity risks like hackers. Regarding psychology, the very nature of it involves understanding how people’s minds work, and why they act the way they do. This can be very beneficial when it comes to understanding cybersecurity, specifically human risks to cybersecurity; this is because having background it allows a person to be able to understand a person, for a examples a hackers, behavior, and possible be able to educated themselves and possibly others to recognize the signs of person who have malicious intent and prevent cyberattacks against them. Biology is actually incredibly important in cybersecurity, specifically relating to identification aspects that  aid in protecting sensitive information like touch ID and facial recognition, since before that can actually be implemented in technology, background biological knowledge is necessary.
