What makes this article a primary article is the fact that it presents original research that was conducted by the authors of the article. While it contains existing information regarding a common trend amongst people with Down syndrome, in this case the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease, it only uses this information as a basis for the study that was conducted. The results of the study provided new insight on how increased physical activity could be beneficial to the cognitive function of individuals with Down syndrome, which greatly benefits the field. There are also various parts/sections of the article that note its originality such as the methods with a detailed methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion–all of which are indicative of primary articles. Finally, the fact that this article came from a journal that is peer-reviewed not only showcases its reputability, but also highlights the originality of the study once again.
