Health Services Administration (Bachelor Science in Environmental Health).
- Why I Chose This as My Parallel Major?
I chose this major because it is still closely related to my original major (nursing). I also still would be interested in helping people in some way. Health services administration would deal more along the business side, but still is close to what I would like to do.
- One Interesting Fact About the Major
The ODU website states, “Many work in private industries, military installations, insurance companies, consulting firms, waste and wastewater plants, civil service, and other organizations”.
- Careers in This Field
Besides the ones listed above there are agencies such as FDA, USDA, EPA, OSHA, NASA, and DOD.
- Plan for Pursuing This Major
The course work is about the same from my original major which is nursing. In order to gain professional experience, I could try to interview somebody in that profession now and try to understudy them. I could also try to acquire an internship. My advisor is still in the health science department here at ODU. Jacob T. would be my advisor.
