The tradeoff of training versus technology is an interesting topic to talk about because training is just as beneficial as getting new advanced technology. If we are going by a budget, then the most beneficial option is the training. Training is the most beneficial option because you would not have to deal with the upkeep of the technology. With training you could balance the tradeoff of additional technology by teaching your organization members how the technology works and stagger them into innovative technology. The downfall of the tradeoff is that there are more psychological downfalls of having humans be trained. There are six out of nine psychological downfalls of having humans in terms of cyberthreats. According to “Cyberbitsetc – Why Is Cyber Security About Human Behavior?”, they said that most cyber threats have a psychological aspect in the threats even though it is not necessary. An example of the cyber threat using psychological factors is by playing tricks on the individual. Seeing these downfalls is why training is important. When your organization members are aware of the different tricks people may play (like phishing swindles) you ultimately offset the negative effects of the psychological tradeoffs. Along with the constant upkeep of the additional technologies you need to train people how to use it anyways to make sure that they do not misuse the technology you pay for. The main down point of the additional technology offset besides the management aspects is the factor of security breaches happening more frequently. If you do not train your organization members on basic cyber safety the technology, you bought will be worthless because of the lack of security. The lack of security will make you spend even more money on additional technology rather than training someone to protect the technology you already have.
