During this class we were assigned audio clips and videos to watch, but the best way I found to enhance my understanding of Spanish, was to speak and read the language. I had a co-worker that spoke Spanish, so I would communicate with him in it from time. Another example would be reading Spanish on a menu, in a Mexican restaurant. When I first started to realize I knew what some words meant when I saw them it was a great experience.
Engaging in presentations and writing assignments in literature class has been a transformative experience for me, as it has helped me grow as both a presentational speaker and writer. Through the presentations and writing assignments, I have learned to communicate my ideas more effectively, develop my critical thinking skills, and present my ideas in a clear and concise manner.
Firstly, the presentations in literature class have helped me become a more effective presentational speaker. By presenting my ideas in front of my classmates and instructor, I have learned to speak more confidently and assertively, and to articulate my ideas in a more coherent and organized way. Additionally, the constructive feedback that I received from my classmates and instructor has helped me identify areas for improvement, and has allowed me to refine my presentation skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Furthermore, the writing assignments in literature class have also helped me grow as a writer. By engaging with literary texts and writing about them in a critical and analytical manner, I have developed my critical thinking skills and learned to express my ideas more clearly and effectively. Moreover, the feedback that I have received on my writing assignments has helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, and has allowed me to improve my writing skills over time.
This semester in Spanish class, interpretive listening and reading have played a crucial role in helping me develop my language skills. Through interpretive listening activities, such as listening to recorded conversations or speeches, I have learned to comprehend and understand spoken Spanish more effectively. By focusing on key vocabulary, grammar structures, and context clues, I have been able to improve my listening comprehension skills and better understand the nuances and complexities of spoken Spanish.
Similarly, interpretive reading activities have also been incredibly helpful in improving my Spanish language skills. By reading Spanish texts, such as news articles or literary works, I have learned to comprehend written Spanish more effectively, as well as to identify important vocabulary and grammatical structures. Furthermore, the readings have exposed me to different cultural perspectives and have helped me develop a deeper understanding of the Spanish-speaking world.
In addition, engaging in interpretive listening and reading activities has helped me develop important language learning strategies, such as note-taking, summarizing, and identifying key details. These strategies have not only helped me comprehend and understand Spanish more effectively, but have also provided me with valuable tools for learning other subjects as well.
Overall, interpretive listening and reading activities have been instrumental in helping me improve my Spanish language skills this semester. By focusing on key language structures, developing important language learning strategies, and exposing me to different cultural perspectives, these activities have helped me become a more confident and proficient Spanish language learner.
