Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Effective Reflection
- ln Spanish 102, l have increased my knowledge of the Spanish language as well as sharpen my reading, writing and listening skills. Throughout Spanish 101, l had speaking issues as well as comprehending however, Spanish 102 helped me build my confidence in speaking and grasping more of the language. I overcame my challenges and obstacles by repetition of speaking and reading inside my textbook. Homework assigned also helped as well. My best developed skill would have to be listening because my professor allowed the students to practice their speaking skills in class each day.

Exploring Culture
The VHL Textbook helped tremendously in learning more about the Cultures. The textbook offers activities for the reader to do and explore more about the language.

The textbook uses hands-on activities to engage the reader in the text. Homework and other worksheets came directly from the textbook. Using the textbook, I began to see other cultures and formally accept and acknowledge them because l am very interested in knowing different languages and their cultures. The textbook activities correlated with the reading which was well for the reader.
Engaging in Communities
In English, give a brief description of the value of, and importance of, engaging in your immediate community and the global community.
Communities are so important because they essentially mold who you are as an individual and to be close-rooted and active in your community is such an honor because it brings people of all different backgrounds together to coexist as one.

Interpersonal Communication
During this semester l completed multiple audio activities such as TalkAbroad, Oral, Homework listening & speaking activities that helped me learn the language better. The activities were enjoyable for the class because it allowed us to prove our speaking abilities.
The interpersonal communication activities that we did this semester was enjoyable and fun. TalkAbroad was a assignment involving a fluent spanish-speaking person from another country, this particular assignment feared me because of my fear of publicly speaking spanish , however, after the first session l felt more confident and happy about speaking in public. The growth in my speaking and reading ability this semester allowed for me to succeed in the class.Throughout the class, l learned that failure is only a stepping stone in success.

Presentational Speaking
Presentational speaking included TalkAbroad, Oral exams as well as conversing in spanish with family and friends.
Speaking has always been a challenge for me so I made sure to use reptitze conversations before l had an assignment due.Throughout the semester, every chapter allowed me to gain knowledge of the Spanish language which benefited me ultimately because l could use more articulate words to express how l felt.
Presentational Writing
During Spanish 102, writing was an important part of the learning process to learning spanish. In class and out, we practiced learning how to write in activities such as compositions, discussion boards etc.
Writing in Spanish has been a focal point of mine because l quickly learned I wanted to be good in all areas of learning a new language. My writing skills increased through each composition activity we had due to the practice of writing and learning new words. As time progressed, sentences became easier to write and l began to strengthen my ability to write paragraphs.

Interpretive Listening
Listening Activities l participated in this semester were listening to Spanish music, listening activities in VHL and conversing with classmates on different topics.
Throughout the semester, I listened to many podcasts in spanish speaking on different topics as well as answering questions based on what I heard on VHL. The hardest obstacle I faced was deciphering words during a speech and l overcame that by using context clues and my knowledge for spanish. Listening is a important part of understanding a language and L have grown throughout the semester by clueing in on what nouns and verbs are being said.

Interpretive Reading
In English, give a very brief 2-3 line description of interpretive communication activities you read in and out of class this semester, such as articles, stories, websites like theĀ Language Learning Center, etc. that you completed for or related to your Spanish learning. Include a copy of one of these activities; remember to cite it. (See Modes of Communication link for description and examples).
Reading is fundamental for learning spanish. Reading activities included: VHL textbook activities, spanish books and letters.
Reading taught me most of what l know about the Spanish language. The activities in VHL were helpful and persistent in learning about the language.Spanish books such as the Dictionary and a Cookbook were interesting for me and ultimately made reading in spanish fun for me. A takeaway from learning spanish by reading is that you get in what you put out meaning the more you read the more you will be able to understand the language.
