Takeaways from COMM495

Throughout my time in this Sport Media class, I learned a lot to say the least. I learned that getting a job in Sport’s Media isn’t always about who you are, or how much you know, but sometimes it comes down to who you know, and how you are perceived with it comes to being a hard worker. In this class I also took away that there’s no perfect route to take in the Sport’s Media field, everyone starts somewhere, and it is likely that everyone in the class is going to start with a job they don’t expect, selling tickets. Another takeaway from this class I had was effort, effort is one of the most important things, if you don’t put forth any effort, or make it seem like you care, employers will give you the exact same energy you give them.

What I Learned

In this class I learned for my future in Sports/Communication, is that business are ready for everything, there is a plan in place for every outcry, and crisis, yet there is new stuff that happens everyday and you should always expect the unexpected. Something I will take with me from this class in my future field will be that communication is such an important factor, and if you’re able to communicate with your peers and workers effective you will be able to be successful, sometimes it isn’t about how you do your work, sometimes it how you present it and how much effort you put inside of it. This class has helped me in so many ways and has been of most use throughout my first four semesters in college, thank you for providing us with valuable information everyday, and for being able to provide necessary insight into the spectrum of sports and sports communication.

Thank you!
