My sports media consumption diet is quite large I would say, with me growing up in the age of social media running the sports world, I have become accustomed to how social media and sports go together. I am the type of person where I need SportsCenter or some type of sport in the background, sometimes used as white noise to help me go to sleep, nevertheless, I have always watched SportsCenter my whole life. It was my main news source for sports, until I discovered social media. 5 Years ago, most of the breaking news I would get would either be from the ESPN app or just watching SportsCenter, but now with the way social media operates throughout the sports world, there is honestly not much need for an ESPN app, just hop on Twitter or Instagram and you will find all the same stuff. I think in the next five years ESPN and these social media companies will merge even more to create something more powerful for the sports world, I still believe ESPN will be the world-wide leader in sports, but social media is to big of an attraction to the whole world, they must continue to expand their horizon on social media. If I could take away something from the Sports Communication world, it would be to take away how talk shows will script arguments to get viewership up, when shows do this it creates false narratives that social media runs with, thus creating false reality arguments in sports, and I honestly just dont enjoy that.
