Social Media Persona

For my Social Media Persona I decided to start a Twitter account dedicated to my love of Formula 1. I have drawn influence in my way of implementing emojis from the way I often see them used in brand accounts, and decided to apply that to my normal method of posting and discussing.

I begin the account with a recap of the recent livery reveals for the 2023 challengers, offering my opinions on two that stood out to me, and the field at whole.

Next in my process was something that is connects to me more personally. I have long been a fan of the sport, and one of the things that interests me the most, as both a fan and someone who does sim racing, is the quality of each individual venue. To kick off the 2023 Formula 1 season, I have taken to rating and describing the qualities of each individual venue on the calendar, in the order in which they will appear.

I have conducted this review in a manner that appeals to three key groups of consumers: Those who have track experience such as myself, the average consumer who wants to know which races to look out for on television, and the fan who wants to discover which races might offer the best experience to attend in person.

So far I have the first three races on the calendar laid out. My general track knowledge comes from in part discourse with other racing fans on the overall quality of racing, the flow of the track, and the ability to balance allowing overtaking while not making the process to easy. The second part my “enjoyable to drive” measurement draws from is my years of experience driving these tracks using simulator racing.

I have a pretty basic Logitech G29 set-up at my home that I have logged plenty of hours on the majority of these tracks on over the years, so I have a good feel for which tracks I personally enjoy the experience of driving on, and which tracks I do not. Circuits like Monaco for example, are an absolute nightmare to drive a modern Formula 1 car around, as unless you have a lap time difference in excess of nearly two seconds, overtaking is near impossible due to the width of modern F1 cars. Issues such as this play a part in my rating of the track.

The television element is another part that plays into my rating of the track. Jeddah, pictured above, in my opinion does not provide the most enjoyable driving experience, but the quality of the races on television have been superb in its short history. This contributes to its overall rating.

The final element of my rating system is the fan atmosphere at the weekend at the track. Melbourne is a great example of a terrific fan experience as an attendee. The venue is known for having an almost festival-like vibe to it, and the beautiful weather and location combine with a strong, very enthused fan base to create an unforgettable weekend for all those in attendance.

I believe that by creating a page that aims to encompass three massive sects of the fan base, while alienating none for being too casual or too hardcore, I can help the persona reach and entertain as many people as possible.
