Designing the Public Sphere: Information Technologies and the Politics of Mediation

Markets, businesses, and groups should all be examined to a certain degree when in relation to the networking of the material world. One market should not be able to be held to a higher degree than the other. The producer price index is just as important to the business allowing the network to grow with the correct flow of circulation. As a certain framework is inserted into circulation, networks will continue to expand, smaller companies should catch up. A big corporation that has information of PPI is equally important as a smaller company with PPI. For example, companies like Tesla, Amazon, and Microsoft should not be able to own more real estate, in turn enabling it to have priority over smaller businesses due to the fact they lead in their fields. Markets like this should be handled similarly, allowing for the same standard to be judged upon based upon the same criteria across the board. Companies such as Amazon have more business and buyers due to how easily accessible, availability of products, practicality of the marketing, and the large stocks of products compared to smaller local companies. These conveniences are due to the digitalization of the market. Everything is online and easily accessible and the ability to be delivered straight to you without moving from the safety of your own home. There is however an advantage of local stores, if you have the time and means to get to the store you can have the product in hand right away, as long as they have it stock. But there is a reason why Amazon and eBay are flourishing in these times. Partly due to the pandemic and the general public’s growing fear of crowded areas, and the benefits to staying at home, limiting the amount of people they encounter during these times. In conclusion, there should be a universal standard for all markets to align themselves with to sustain fairness and mutual parameters.
