As our advancement in technology continues to occur, we are finding more and more cyber-crimes to be prevalent around the world. How do we navigate through a world where businesses, accounts, email, etc… are constantly at risk of being infiltrated. I believe the first step to be the most crucial way forward in an ever-growing world of technology. That step is for the federal government to grant more money to the local and state governments, in order to implement more cybersecurity classes into the public and private school sector. With more money being granted to the states, this will allow the opportunity to integrate these types of classes into the school system enabling our youth to gain a base foundation in the process of learning about the risks involved with being active in the internet world. Establishing knowledge on how to avoid certain sites, emails, and situations for scamming to arise will transfer into the workplace once they are of the age to hold a job. Not only is the general knowledge of hackers and scammers and their desired methods to reach an outcome vital to combat this arising problem necessary, attracting the youth of our generation to fields in cybersecurity is just as important. Establishing an attraction to a specific field such as cybersecurity can help ensure the workers needed to fill the vastly open positions in combating crimes via the internet. Right now, there are tons of openings in cyber security related fields. This is partially due to the lack of individuals being interested in making this a career. This statement raises the question of whether it is a drought of interest or an ignorance to the topic. Whatever the case may be, furthering the public’s education is the only way to address the lack of knowledge on risk factors associated with our new technological age. In conclusion, the best way for our legislative branches to respond more rapidly to these advancements is to enhance the education process to better fit our changing environment.
