Assignment 4: “Opted Out”
This assignment was the one I chose to opt out of. The syllabus explains that there are five assignments and out of those five, we are required to do only four. Due to personal obligations and scheduling, I decided this specific assignment was the ideal one to miss out on.

Assignment 3: Prejudice
This assignment really captivated me since I was able to view a past event, analyze it, and parallel it with the text and personal endeavors. I believe this assignment taught me the capable depth and width of psychological issues, and how some of our own worst characteristics can shine through in moments of pressure or stress. I found this topic to challenge not only my intellect but my values and morals. I am appreciative for that and cherish the moments where my academic studies push me to think critically and forwardly. This assignment helped me asses my childhood upbringing, stretched my understanding of prejudice, and created a new sense of concern for the subject. I now find myself analyzing myself, the people around me, and even the media on how this subject affects people and the way we all perceive one another, as individuals and groups. I hope to gain deeper insight into the psychological truths regarding prejudice in order to treat others with as much respect as possible.
I chose this photo because it is not only relevant but powerful. This image was created by artist Tim Hindes in an effort to display a symbol of resiliency and hope after the tragic mass shooting in the Tree of Life Synagogue, in the Green Tree area of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Furthermore, this really hits home as I am from the Pittsburgh area.

Assignment 1: Heuristics in Social Cognition
Assignment one, Heuristics in Social Cognition, taught me many things about myself that I already knew, but hadn’t had the proper vocabulary to match. When faced with the readings and terminology within, I realized heuristics were always at work in my every decision. I found a deep interest in this assignment since it was putting terms to feelings, which offered me clarity and reassurance.
This assignment challenged me to think deeply into daily activities that depend on the proper dissemination of heuristics. From representativeness to availability, my social cognition is always on the move to view, process, and act accordingly to every situation. I was able to hone in on my self-awareness and come to a deeper understanding of how and why I make decisions the way I do. I have an appreciation for this assignment as is has pushed me to put proper terminology on how I make a decision. Furthermore, assignment one taught me to be more mindful of the fact that other people go through the same process, just in different ways with their unique outcomes.
I decided to use this photo because I think it is a good representation of what the assignment covered. The photo in the text-strand is of me holding the course book with a look of thought on my face. The screenshot of my text strand involves decisions and terms from the text. I thought this was a fun and creative way to involve material from the assignment.
