From what I wrote in my first blog I can tell that Ive achieved a better understanding on how people function in society and how their thoughts can be influenced by society. Something I would do differently if having to retake this course is to register for a scheduled meeting class rather than an unscheduled meeting class. One way that Ive grown academically from taking this course is that I now know how to fully use WordPress. One skill that I gained from this course that I can utilize for my profession is social preparation.

The top three things Ive learned from my pervious e-portfolios is 1, that people with similar taste in music share similar values and ideas. Two, self regulation is the ability to monitor and manage your energy states, emotions, thoughts and behaviors in a way that is acceptable conflict. Lastly three, sexual conflict. Ive experienced 2stages of sexual conflict and didn’t even know it. Two assignments that I find correlate each other well is Blog 8 and my takeaway assignment 4. They both focus on factors that commonly happen in relationships. In module 8 discrimination was mentioned and modern racism and in my English 221C class we discussed discrimination and racism in the 60’s.

After reading the article about sexual conflict I then realized that Ive experienced 2 out of the 3 stages of the mating process. For example stage 1: Prior too consummation. Ive dealt with males who pretend to be caring and understanding in the beginning because they believe that it would increase their chances to be intimate with me. I have a personal hatred for guys like this, and I don’t think I’m the only one either. Males like this genuinely have no interest in getting to know the female mentally, emotionally, spiritually etc. Another example is stage 2: After the relationship is formed. In a relationship its common for the male or female to get jealous easily. Especially if they’re sexually active. One may (typically the girl) suspect that the other is cheating. This can upset the other partner and cause arguments within the relationship.

Self regulation is the ability to monitor and manage your energy states, emotions, thoughts and behaviors in a way that is acceptable. Emotional intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control and express ones emotions. Personally I base my decisions and actions emotionally more than realistically and I would like to work on that. I can work on this by thinking more before I act. So emotional intelligence to me means expressing your actions and emotions in an appropriate way. To think be for you act.

Im actually glad that we’re doing a blog on the topic. Everything Jean Kilbourne mentioned in this Ted Talk I agreed on. Growing up in a society were sexuality is accepted and in a way idolized by my generation Ive defiantly seen Ads in magazines manipulate people into buying products. As far as gender differential goes I do agree that the women’s image in advertising has been outrageous. Women having to be a certain size and look certain way to be more appealing to the human eye is pretty sad. And its been this way for a while now. Men don’t get as badly criticized on their appearance as women do .

What I learned from looking back on my test scores and finding the correct answers was that its best to look back over your answers before submitting the test. I realized if I read some of the questions more carefully from the exam I strongly believe that I would have gotten the correct answer that first try. From now on I will be checking my work .

After reading the article Soul meets body I immediately could relate to the concept of the whole article. I do in fact agree that people with similar taste in music share similar values and ideas. And yes, Ive started friendships with people because of our similar taste in music. As I got to know them more and more I realized that we did have similar values and ideas. So sharing your music selection with a new friend or partner is a great idea! I also do believe that you’ll get closer to knowing someones soul with music.
Soundtrack-
My mom – Dear Mama-Tupac
My brother- Talk Coldplay
My best friend (girl) -Moment for Life Nicki Minaj
My best friend (guy)- Neighbors Pooh Sheisty
My cousin- Love don’t change
My grandpa- Off the Wall Micheal Jackson

There’s one thing that I learned
While in those county lines
Is that everything takes time
You have gotta lose your pride
You have gotta lose your mind
Just to find your peace of mind
You have got to trust the signs
Everything will turn out fine

I believe that I am a dedicated student. Im very eager to learn new things and I’m dedicated to my work. I don’t like to procrastinate, I’m the type of person who gets their work done first and have free time later. Ive been this way all four years of high school up to now and it’s been working great for me. Im a student who if is struggling with an assignment is not afraid of asking the teacher questions. My score was 28, mean 2.8 on the General Self efficacy scale. I feel that my score is accurate because I believe that I show high self efficacy as student.

What do I expect to learn from taking this course (social psychology)? I expect to develop/gain a full understanding of individuals behaviors, and how they can be affected by other individuals behaviors. Such things like attitude change, peer pressure, interpersonal attraction, etc. I do believe this course can help me in the future because it will allow me to have a better understanding on how people function in society or how their thoughts can be influenced by society. I intend to be fully in tuned with this course by checking my daily emails, keeping track of my assignments and asking questions if needed to ensure that I will successfully pass this course.

Heuristic Meme
The reason I choose this meme is because in chapter 2 we learned about three types of Heuristics. Representativeness, Availability, and Anchor and Adjustment.
