I’ve made at least two videos of myself speaking in Spanish, explaining tid-bits about my life and upbringing, as well as a conversational video. The biggest hurdle o overcome with these types of things is the technology. Before this class, i’d only uploaded ONE youtube video, and it was done for by pressing the “share” button while in a video game. I didn’t know what it would do or how it would do it, but it did it. This was a bit different though. [Please refer to ‘sobre mi’]
Aside from downloading the appropriate software so that I could properly record from my computer, I had to speak loudly enough to be heard, and make sure that I was making eye contact with my “viewers”. I did poorly at this the first time, but improved the second time. I was less nervous, as there was no one directly in front of me, but of course, wanting something to be perfect is never a “one take” kind of thing. Start, record, delete. Start, record, delete. Start, record… maybe this is it? No, delete. And so on and so forth, until reaching a finished product in which I looked comfortable and confident. It felt like a pretty big accomplishment, and perhaps it will help me to improve my public speaking skills.
