2024 EVMS Legacy Staff Award for Excellence in Efficiency and Effectiveness

Jon has demonstrated an admirable work ethic and outstanding technical
abilities. He has extended his support to other areas of IT by learning new
software on the fly and aiding in the setup and installation. Additionally, he
has gone further outside the scope of our standard responsibilities to aid
external vendors in troubleshooting their own product. This resulted in a
quicker upgrade and less downtime for the users. It is my belief that Jon
has definitely earned this recognition. I have listed below several
achievements of note that support this recommendation. Jon has
completed all these projects swiftly with a minimal amount of input and
guidance. He is a true self starter dedicated to the mission of our team and
a valuable asset to EVMS.

• Built out and deployed JAMF, a Mac management framework, including
training techs on enrolling new devices
• Developed virtual New Network Device and VPN Request forms,
eliminating old paper forms
• Built out mirrored SQL servers for GFI Archiver – our email archival
system
• Keep LogRhythm SIEM up-to-date – collecting critical log information for
troubleshooting and forensics
• Configured Veeam ONE for advanced monitoring of virtual servers and
workstations
• Audited SMTP relay to remove unnecessary access – eliminating security
risks
• Eliminated AWS cold storage for backups to reduce costs
• Built out ManageEngine Data Security+ for advanced monitoring and
alerting of EVMS shared drives
• ManageEngine monitoring allowed us to discover a host infected with
malware that was attempting to interact with EVMS shared drives
• Created dashboard for Brickell Library to monitor usage of Class and Lab
computers
• Implemented logging of FTP sites to detect any potential misuse
• Rebuilt two malfunctioning Exchange servers
