I chose to select module eight’s item to archive mainly because it showed how much narratives have changed not just in my lifetime, but throughout all of history. Module eight was an interesting module to me, and it kept me engaged the whole time. I am a criminal justice major so learning about prejudice, discrimination, and subjects similar to those, I feel most engaged because that’s a big subject criminal justice majors’ study throughout their classes. This activity really expanded my mind and showed me how adjectives go a long way in comparing and describing people.
Each country and religion has had negative stereotypes and if you ask people from different generations, I believe their answers would be so much different from one another. Each country has had a positive or negative historical event that has changed their narratives and views on other countries or themselves. One thing this activity showed me was that adjective/ or stereotyping of these countries and religions have become much more positive than the past. Since I am Bi-Racial, in my visual image, I used words that described both of my races (Black and white) as well as words I associate with my nationality (American) to mesh into one word cloud. People are more than just their race or nationality and they need to describe themselves as who they are before others describe them off of stereotypes.

I chose the module 3 item to archive mainly because this was one where I was forced to interact with other people to get their views on the topic. I believe that the arguments between “similarity leads to attraction” and “opposites attract” has been a long-lasting debate within society. I personally don’t believe on of those to be the “correct” answer because both are great arguments in my opinion but learning that other people who are close to me have particular points on one of the two subtopics really opened my eyes. This activity helped me realize how important social psychology really is within everyday life. Learning other people’s opinions on the topic helped me realize that there is rarely a right or wrong answer in psychology because many ideas and theories have multiple points.
Chapter 1 was mainly about how methods and theories play key roles within social psychology. For the representative visual image, I chose the yin yang symbol. Yin yang is an ancient symbol of harmony and balance, challenges the conventional association of light with good and darkness with evil. It deeper explains how both parts of the symbol are needed in life to create and keep balance in the world just how I believe you need to have a good amount of similarities and differences with your friends and family to maintain balance and keep the friendship balanced.
