Hello, I am Jordan Gaston, a junior at Old Dominion University, and an aspiring Cybersecurity major. I grew up in Newport News, Virginia with two loving parents who have supported me throughout my life. I aim to achieve academic excellence and focus on becoming a security analyst. In high school, I was given the opportunity to learn more about cybersecurity and IT. We did many labs that involved real-world scenarios, research papers, and practice certifications. I enjoyed it so much that I have decided to further my studies here at ODU and earn my degree. I am eager to apply my knowledge and enthusiasm to achieving this goal. I love the intersectionality between cybersecurity and social sciences. Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, and data from digital attacks, theft, or damage. The social sciences, includes disciplines like psychology, sociology, political science, and economics, examine human behavior, social interactions, and organizational structures. Their intersection with cybersecurity highlights that many vulnerabilities aren’t just technical flaws but are rooted in how people behave, make decisions, and interact within a digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
