Engineers make cyber networks safer by creating and modifying systems that protect people’s devices. They are able to run the software that can prevent firewall breaches as well as any cyber attacks that may be directed at systems. Since they are engineers they should have access to any type of security measures that can be used to defend against attacks and prevent them from corrupting or stealing information from any databases or shared community systems. Some engineers, if qualified, are able to perform penetration testing on some systems. This is where they would attempt to break in or hack the systems on purpose. This is perfectly legal and companies actually hire them to do it. This way they can see any type of vulnerabilities the system has and is able to fix it before anyone that wants to manipulate the vulnerabilities maliciously has a chance to do so. They can also perform assessments to see if the systems that a company is using is safe. If a company is currently using an unsafe system the engineers are able to perform tests to find any problems it has in order to modify or create something that they would give them the performance they need. These are just a few things that engineers can do to keep the cyber networks safe. Without them systems would not be secure and it would be very easy to be breached. They are an essential job in todays workplace based solely on the many benefits they bring to any company that works with computers or requires info to be encrypted or protected.
