Module 12

Review what the author says and write a paragraph describing the five most serious violations and why you think those offenses are serious.

1. Bullying: Bullying is a serious issue because when people decide to indulge in bullying online it is usually a gateway into many more serious crimes. Child pornography is a big example, because children bully others by sending out nude pictures and don’t realize it’s illegal to distribute.

                   2. Torrenting: Torrenting is dangerous because it is a very obvious crime that can be led back to anyone who decides to do it. Piracy laws strictly prohibit torrenting and can land people in jail for breaking the law.

                  3. Faking Identity: Faking identity or more commonly known as catfishing is serious because you are deceiving others by using pictures or information about others that isnt you or yours. This is dangerous because it can land you or the other person that you are stealing from in serious danger because you never know how far the person being catfished will go after realizing they are being tricked.

                  4. Copyrighting: Copyrighting is not very serious considering fair use laws, but depending on how you decide to use copyrighted material, you could land yourself in pretty big trouble. They are protected for a reason and if you decide to break the law you could get hit with a pretty hefty fine or jail time.

                 5. Collecting info about children: This is definitely the most dangerous one because it is a very weird thing to do, and children are heavily protected in the eyes of the law. There are instances where people might want to see info about kids, such as people trying to look at something for their own children, this can easily be misconstrued into something that makes you look like a sick person.
