This was my first encounter with a sports media class in my entire educational career. I will say that the Sport and Strategic Communication course is a course that will prepare a student for the business aspect of sports. I knew I would love this class once I saw the word “sport” in the description. I have always been eager to be able to have a class about sports, due to my love and interest in certain sports. There was a lot of information about going into the sports management/communications field that I picked up from the Sport and Strategic Communication course. I personally learned the importance of being able to take constructive criticism of assignments and even real-life situations. I took away that building connections with different people and listening to people in a higher position will help tremendously. There were many things I learned in this class that I feel would be relevant to my journey in the sports management field. Sports social hub taught me the use of social media can help and hurt you depending on how it is used. Being involved in the relevant topics and making sure to not offend another person or group will show a company/organization that you are tuned into the sports world nonstop. I learned that there are many opportunities in this field and having skills that most people do not have will help you stand out compared to other applicants. Also, I learned how to be creative with the blog post on WordPress and to express my knowledge of sports. The assignments in this class challenged my state of shyness and creativeness, especially the Name, Image, and Likeness assignment where we had to find an athlete to represent. Even when I struggled with some aspects of the class, I was grateful to have this class because it showed me the side of sports that are seldom spoked about by the public. Overall, this class was a success in many ways dealing with my curiousness of how sports are handled behind closed doors.
