Article Review 1: Understanding the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Cybercrime
Introduction
Artificial Intelligence has been making an impact in our life for quite some time now. Is it possible to understand the use of AI in cybercrime? The authors of this article, Katalin Parti, Thomas Dearden, and Sinyong Choi set out to answer this question. Lets dive into the background of AI and how crimes unfold with them.
Background
AI is an ever-changing tool that helps us improve our daily lives, but in the wrong hands it could be used in dark ways. Much like we us AI to improve life, criminals can use AI to improve their arsenal. AI typically uses information given from human intelligence. That is what give AI its mass library to help people. This library can also be used by criminals to commit crimes. Criminals could potentially have access to private information allowing them to create fake images and/or videos to enhance their cybercrimes. Two papers explain in detail the possible evils that could come from cyber-attacks.
Paper 1
Paper 1 is titled, Victimization by Deepfake in the Metaverse: Building A Practical Management Framework. This paper dives deep into deepfake related crimes committed. They also had eight semi-constructed interviews with policy, academic, and industry experts in South Korea. Theories such as Routine activities theory and Eysenck’s theory of criminality were the framework of identifying specific characteristics for offenders. According to paper it states that “…offenders in their 20s would likely commit crimes in the metaverse.” (study 1).
Paper 2
Paper 2 is titled, Harnessing Large Language Models to Simulate Realistic Human Responses to Social Engineering Attacks: A Case Study. In this paper, it discusses how GPT can simulated how targets could respond during a cyber-attack. GPT also simulates vulnerabilities to these attacks. According to the paper they found, “…personae with the qualities of naivety, carelessness, and impulsivity were particularly susceptible to attacks.” (Study 2)
Conclusion
The authors found out in their studies ways to combat some of the areas of this ever-growing problem. Establishing new programs for victims affected by deepfake related crimes, and revamping cybersecurity systems to safeguard or grant warnings with high-risk personality traits to individuals. These systems will continue to grow, adapt, or completely change along with the growing threat that can come with a changing AI.

Article review 2: Navigating the Digital Frontier: The Intersection of Cybersecurity Challenges and Young Adult Life
Introduction
Cyberspace is becoming the main space for college-age young adults. And because of this, they are at a much higher risk of a cyber related crime if they are not properly educated on the topic. Author Hannarea Lee explains in this article the importance of educating young adults about the risk they can put themselves in unless they know cybersecurity.
The problem
The majority of young adults uses some type of electronic that has access to the internet. and because of this, a good amount of their information is in cyberspace. This puts these young adults at risk of potential cyber crimes such as identity theft and phishing. These crimes could also have long-term consequences such as disruption to credit scores, financial instability, and risk of damaging reputation for potential employments. Not to mention that these young adults are also subjected to cyber bullying (especially during the COVID pandemic).
The solution
Ngo and colleagues are trying to address the importance of cybersecurity and the dangers of cybercrimes by demonstrating them. they explain the values of knowing cybersecurity and how to combat cybercrimes. They also addressed the language barrier so they can teach non-English speaking people this information. Another thing they talked about was cyber bullying and how to address it since it became problematic, especially during the pandemic.
Conclusion
Cyberspace will be an ever-growing space and being well informed about the possible dangers that come with it will help reduce the amount of cyber related crimes that occur especially to young adults. Teaching them now will be good for the long term of this ever-growing space and educating them sooner could also prevent them from ever being involved in a cyber related crime. But we need to make sure we educated them the right way by ensuring that they feel safe and to change how we educated base on the people we are teaching. If we don’t properly educate this generation, cybercrimes will be much more difficult to contain, causing many lives to be ruined.
