They’re work under supervision of an assigned supervisor, but have the leeway for creativity, independent judgement, and initiative. These duties are performed in a forensic laboratory. Examiners can come from many different backgrounds such as law enforcement, private sector computers and software professionals, military, etc.
Relation to class.
In class, we learn about the many principles of social science and how all of them relate to cybersecurity. Each principle has a different meaning and way of how something should go or how someone should do something in a certain way. But how does this relate to digital forensic examiner? Digital forensic examiner is a type of cybersecurity related job so these principles should already be related in some shape or form to this field of cybersecurity. But to put more detail into why they relate, specific principles of social science can be explained through this field of cybersecurity. Parsimony is a great example that relates to digital forensic examiner. Parsimony is all about keeping explanations as simple as possible. A great way to put this principle into practice is when an examiner is explaining their findings to law enforcement. They have to keep their levels of speech as simple as possible so that law enforcement can understand what the examiners found in their part of the investigation. Another great example of a principle that relates is determinism. Determinism is the meaning that behavior is caused, determined, or influenced by preceding events. Digital forensic examiners can put this principle to the test while examining evidence and data to have a better understanding and to figure out any potential leads as to what caused the suspect to commit these crimes. One last example of a principle that relates is empiricism. Empiricism is the study of behavior that is real to the senses. Digital forensic examiners make sure that all data is looked over before making a conclusion as to what happen so all information is as accurate as possible when they give it to the authorities.
