Technology is all around us, and we usually interact with it many times each day. Therefore, we put a lot of our personal information on these devices, so it is no surprise that hackers see them as highly valuable targets. For most people, they have more information pertaining to them on technology than they do in paper documents. The rate of technology attacks has increased exponentially in recent years. My desire to become a cybersecurity professional is to help stop these attacks that can leave people vulnerable and frustrated. Identity theft, compromised credit cards, and many other forms of theft can cause major issues. Oftentimes, it is a server breach or exploit that causes this data to surface. However, it can also be user error, such as inferior passwords or poor cyber hygiene. Cyber security has multitudes of career choices for a cyber professional. A cybersecurity professional may be a white hat hacker, working to defeat hackers who have antagonistic motives. They could also be a cybersecurity engineer, designing networks and security layouts for a company or organization. Another career in the cybersecurity sector is advising and consulting, helping a business determine what is best for them. It really appeals to me just how many options are available to work in this field. There are many jobs and specialties that one can be successful at and have a rewarding career. Being a student who is of generation z, we grew up in a time where technology was prevalent, so it is naturally interesting to me. Also, I think there are many opportunities in this field due to new innovations. Technology is always evolving and changing. The devices we use seem to get replaced only after a couple of years, so that means the needs of security are stepping up everyday. If we want to have confidence that our data is protected and safe, we need people who will work to protect our data so we can live better lives, without the worry of getting hacked or our identity stolen. Cybersecurity is a very engaging career that requires  proper strategy and planning.
