In my opinion, my high school did not adequately prepare me for college. I have had a lot of other things in my life that have come up and I have consistently felt like there has been no time to complete many of my assignments, most especially in my writing class. Yes, I am exaggerating on most of these topics but it is for the sake of the argument. The thing that I am most confused about is the website that we have to make. I missed the day that it was explained so I do not know how to make one. Because of these problems that I am having I believe that my high school did not do a good job of teaching us how to manage our time or telling us what to do if we do not know how to do something. In high school it was common to not study for a test and still get a B. Most of the assignments that I got either did not require that much work or they did require a lot of work but the topic was fairly easy. The sharing of homework in my grade was done so often you did not even have to ask for it, people would just share it with you anyway. Because of this, if someone were to ever stumble across an assignment that they did not understand, instead of trying to figure it out by either researching or getting help they would simply get sent the answers. The assignments that would actually be challenging were those that involved an essay of some sorts. That might just be a personal opinion though, since writing papers has never been one of my strong suits. The second reason I feel unprepared is because I am used to going home and working on homework for about 6 hours a day, but when in college, I do not have time for that. Most days I have to pull myself out of bed at 8am to go to class and then continue to go to classes till about 4ish. Unlike high school though there is no, quote on quote, free classes. This means that in high school I took about 7 classes a day, but at least 1 or 2 of them were study halls to work on homework and another 1 or 2 were fairly easy and were more for fun and conversation. This is obviously not the case in college. Every class requires extensive note-taking and extra studying outside of class on said notes. Honestly, in the beginning of the school year it was a lot harder than it is now. Now I have kind of gotten into what you would call a groove in most of my classes. I have handed in missing homework and have figured out my schedule so that I do not miss anything. The reason I think my high school did not really prepare me for college is because it took a couple of weeks to get into the swing of things.
