For as long as I can remember my favorite sport has always been football. Obviously, I do not have much recollection of the first couple of years of my life, me being a baby and all. Because of this I do not know where my affection for the sport began. My best guess is that my parents naturally instilled their ideals in me from a young age. This would make a lot of sense since my parents have both been lifelong New York Giants fans. I can confidently say that I followed in their footsteps. My first real experiences with playing football happened in elementary school during recess. Every day me and my friends would run a pickup game on the back field. After about a year or two a bunch of us decide to make a flag football team. This was the beginning of my competitive career playing football. Even though I was like nine or ten at the time and did not have a working concept of most things, I instantly became hooked to the sport. I played flag two seasons, both of them being some of the funnest experiences of my life. We actually ended up winning the second one which made my ten year old self feel as if I was on top of the world. The next year instead of playing flag again, I decided to switch over to actually tackle football. I had always been athletic and I considered myself to be really good. That is why to my surprise this first season did not go how I expected it to. The difference between tackle and flag was such a big difference it felt like I had to relearn how to play the sport. I ended up playing tackle for the rest of middle school, eventually adjusting my game to the new playstyle. In highschool I played for the JV team my freshman and sophomore year. After my freshman year the head coach was fired. I ended up not liking the replacement coach and decided to stop playing after my sophomore season. Even though my playing career is over, my love for the game still lives on through the NFL, the NCAA, video games, and many other things.
