My first couple of weeks in college were not very good. When I say this I do not mean that I did not have fun and enjoy myself, instead the struggles that I had stemmed mostly from my academics. As it was noted in my first writing reflection, a fair amount of the assignments that I was struggling with took place in the University 150 writing class. Since then I have been spending a considerable amount of time each week going to the library and working on old work that I missed, along with also actively trying to stay up to date with the most current assignments. While I wish that I could say that I have made up all of the homework that I have missed, or at least most of it, that would be dishonest. The truth is that even with all of my extra spare time being used for writing class, I feel as if I have not made significant progress. I think that the reasoning for this is my lack of time management compared to my other classes. What I mean by this is that it almost seems like that whenever I block out time to catch up on the writing work, I happen to stumble across an assignment from another class that has to be completed in the near future. All of this said, it is not like I have not made any progress at all. I have made up about a third of the journals that I was missing. These journals have actually had a fairly surprising impact on my writing. After working on a couple in a row I started to notice my mistakes more often and have been able to correct them before the essay is handed in. The large amount of assignments that I have been working on coupled with the in-class exercises and out of class readings, have drastically improved my writing ability. This improvement is shown in my midterm grade. Unlike my first essays, which did not have a high enough score to pass the writing placement exam, to my surprise my midterm grade easily passed. I say that this is unexpected because of the fact that I figured I would pass but what I did not expect was that I ended up passing with flying colors, fourteen out of sixteen. Obviously, when I received the email from the professor that showed me my grade I instantly became ecstatic. It was a nice feeling to actually have definitive proof that all of the work that I had recently been putting in was going to to good use. I do not plan to waste this newly found confidence in my writing skills that I have gained. In fact, my plan for the next couple of weeks is to start of as strong as I can and try my hardest to get the assignments I owe completed as quickly as possible. I feel as if that once those are cleared up, I will not have any trouble keeping up with the class in the future. With all of this practice and newfound time to study I plan on doing very well on the final exam.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
