A cryptographer is “someone who writes (or cracks) the encryption code used for data security”(1). As someone who is very interested in both encryption and decryption methods and utilities this job intrigues me quite a bit. I would love to learn about the new types of encryptions being developed, different ways they can be cracked, and how to keep information as confidential and hard to access as possible. Some skills that are required are knowledge of encryption systems and algorithms, and the ability to spot faulty or weak encryption.
A data recovery specialist is “an individual that has the technical and logical skills and experience to recover data from computer storage devices, equipment and/or information systems”(2). Data recovery specialists are very important to everyone from your average everyday computer user to governments and giant corporations. Permanently losing data can be catastrophic and cause millions of dollars to be lost, so being able to prevent that is crucial.
