Some things I would look out for to see if a computer is safe would be to first ensure that no sketchy unknown devices have been plugged into it. I would also check the task manager to make sure there were no suspicious processes running. Antivirus software is another great option, there are tools like MalwareBytes that are free to download and while they may not catch everything, they can catch a lot. But while we try and keep our computers safe, do they keep us safe? I believe computers and technology have allowed us to make leaps and bounds in security, but it has also opened up new avenues of attack, especially as more and more devices have computers in them. There have already been reports of people able to hack into Tesla cars, and this issue will only get worse and worse. And while security measures get more complex, so to do the attackers methods. If biometrics are being used for security but somebody is able to hack into where somebodies biometric data is stored that advancement ended up doing more harm than good.
