As a CISO, spending your budget for the company is an important thing to do. If I was a CISO, I
would focus on spending the budget on training rather than technology.
The Dilemma
All cybersecurity company CISOs will end up having to budget and organize the way
their company is run. There are many types of ways to go about this with spending the money in
certain ways and focusing on specific issues. They could put the majority of the budget into
technology and then spend very little money on training. Because of this, CISOs need to be
careful and cautious about the way they spend their money.
If I were a CISO and had to allocate the budget for a company, I would focus a lot of the
budget on training. Having well-trained employees is likely to benefit you regardless of how
advanced and efficient your other technologies are. The training needs to be costly, so it is able
to keep all of the employees engaged and it needs to be memorable (Krishnan, 2022). There still
needs to be money spent on technological systems, I would suggest setting aside a portion of the
budget for enough computers and other supplies and then putting the rest of the resources into
training the employees. Once the training is complete, they can begin working. The rest of the
money will be spent to either buy better computers or upgrade the current ones being used.
Conclusion
I would mainly focus on spending my budget on training in order to have smart
employees that know how to respond to any situation. This is to ensure that once I get really
good computers and other expensive technical things, they aren’t hacked or ruined. Focusing on
training is imperative so that there are few mistakes in the work that needs to be completed. So
that is how I would spend my budget to ensure the success of my cybersecurity company.
