Of the many majors made available to students at Old Dominion University, I have found four majors that relate to cybersecurity other than cybersecurity itself: Cybercrime, Criminology/Criminal Justice, Business Administration, and Aerospace Engineering. However, cybersecurity is arguably relevant to a majority of majors and fields, not just those previously aforementioned.

Cybercrime: As described by the Old Dominion University website, Cybercrime assists students in careers in information technology and law enforcement. Within the cyber realm, the potential for criminals to abuse or exploit others is nearly limitless, and thus needs to be regulated. Cybercrime works to inform students in the ways and means by which laws against cybercrime can be enforced.

Criminology and Criminal Justice: Cybercrime works specifically to target crimes that occur within the realm of cyber space. However, a basic understanding of cybersecurity would assist those working towards a career in standard law enforcement; as Criminology is the study of crime and the justice system.

Business Administration: Students looking to join a business or create their own should verse themselves in the basics of cybersecurity in effort to maintain a protected business. Criminals can seek to exploit businesses, big and small, in effort to hijack, blackmail, or otherwise take advantage of a business via the usage of the internet or other online applications. Situations in which criminals attempt to hold a business’ online assets hostage or for ransom happens every day in the modern world.

Aerospace Engineering: Aircraft, spacecraft, rockets, drones, etc. all are privy to unauthorized tampering or intrusion via the cyber space. Cybersecurity is absolutely essential in maintaining the safety, security, and efficiency of these vehicles. Failure to do so could spell a fate worse than that of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion in 1986. Although the fault of the disaster was physical in nature, a similar or worse outcome is possible in the modern day and age. Cybersecurity is paramount in ensuring the security of those systems from outside tampering.
