The Commonwealth Cybersecurity Initiative and Coastal Virginia Center for Cybersecurity Innovation (COVA CCI) Internship Clinic is a pretigious program that provides cybersecurity awareness and services to client organizations in the Hampton Roads area. This highly selective program is a part of the broader statewide CCI program which connects students with mentorships from faculty and staff, industry leaders, researchers, and professionals in the cybersecurity arena. Of the almost 100 students who applied at Old Dominion University, 18 were selected to participate in the Spring 2025 Cyber Clinic which pairs students with businesses needing cybersecurity assistance.

About COVA CCI
The COVA CCI Cybersecurity Clinic provides pro bono Cybersecurity-as-a-Service to small businesses, non-profits, local government offices/agencies/boards, and other organizations using selected students from the COVA CCI partner universities to assess the organization’s cybersecurity-preparedness and risk posture.
The objective of this clinic is to provide cybersecurity awareness and services (education, risk management posture) to client organizations within Hampton Roads while providing an experiential learning opportunity for students participating in the program as cybersecurity interns/consultants. Specifically, this clinic targets those client organizations that do not have a strong cyber presence and who can find value in gaining knowledge of cybersecurity through cybersecurity awareness and services.
