Exploring Culture
The video assignments on VHL Central I think helped me with understanding the uses of the words. It allowed me to have a visual and see how the Spanish culture was through the videos we had to watch.
When doing the assignments we had videos that would allow us to see how the Spanish culture really was. I not sure what are the stereotypes that people may say about the people or the language. Though I believe their culture is a bit interesting and that they are a wonderful group of people. Not really sure how the practices challenge my worldview but I think I understand more about their culture than I previously did.

Engaging in Communities
There is a great importance of engaging in your community because you never know the type of people you might meet. What you can learn from them and what they can learn from you. There are so many cultures in the world and they maybe can be found right in your community.
Interpersonal Communication
This semester we did more interviews with are professor and with are classmates. We even had the chance to talk to a native Spanish speaker through TalkAbroad.
ENTREVISTA-ORAL-2-¡DE-COMPRAS_br__When doing these interviews I have to honest say I was a bit nervous about each one, since this is a language I don’t really know how to speak well. I found myself messing up a lot and forgetting some of the words at times. If I was to prepare differently I would use sticky notes and start naming items in my house in Spanish. I think the I excel as much as I probably should have because trying to figure out what the person in Spanish is hard for me. Sometimes I get confused on what they are trying to say and I get lost.
Presentational Speaking
There were also assignments where we had to record our answers in Spanish for questions that were given to us.
During these assignments I sometimes had trouble pronouncing the world I wanted to say correctly. When this happen I just look back to the Aventuras textbook to help me with pronunciation and figuring out the grammar. I think I did a decent job with these assignments and did the best I could do. The question weren’t hard at all so that wasn’t anything to worry about. In all honesty, I just would need to practice more on speaking the language more.
Interpretive Listening
This semester we had activities where we had to listen to the audio of a Spanish speaker having conversation with a person, making a order, and etc.
Through these assignments I was exposed to how a conversation between two Spanish speakers would be. It was sometimes hard to keep up with everything they were saying and I would have to replay the audio multiple times. At times I would have to piece together the worlds I understood to figure out what the conversation was about. I feel like my take away from this experience is that I was able to understand more words as I heard the recordings more.
Interpretive Reading
We also did a few reading assignments this semester that talk about some facts within the Spanish culture. One of the facts being that it is normal for employees to take a nap for an hour then go back to work.
Lectura_-¿Comprendiste_
The reading activities we did weren’t that different from the normal reading assignments I would do in other classes. I don’t think I really had any problem with doing assignments like these because it seem easier to do than others. The information I would find in the readings would be interesting to me. Think with these assignments I have grown a lot with learning more things about the Spanish culture and a little bit what they started in their country.
