Explanation Essay: Diving into Maths Problem, What’s the Solution?
The essay I choose for my infographic is my problem solution essay. My problem solution essay is on the issue of students failing math class. It’s a major issue because it affects student’s mental and grade simultaneously. School is expensive and failing it can
Ruin someone’s life. Why did I choose this essay for my infographic? Well there are plenty of reasons. First of all, the problem of student’s failing as I mentioned earlier plays a major role in my decision. Academics is something that is valuable, and when students fail they become demoralized. Another reason why I chose it is I like the concept of the problem solution essay. Throughout this essay I will reveal the design and concepts in my infographic essay.
My layout in my Infographic has 3 text bubbles along with a title on each one, a subtitle on each one, and 3 bullet points on each one. I used this layout because it’s basic, and you can see all the information very clearly. The background is white. I added 3 clear math symbols on the background. I also imported a photo from the internet of a confused brain, to emphasize the problem of students failing math. For the color scheme I have brown for the collier of the main textboxes. The textboxes with the bullets I have are 3 different colors: red, yellow, and green.
There are only a few photos in my infographic. I have clear photos of a division, multiplication, and addition symbol. They all fit into the background and match the basic aesthetic. I also added a photo off of google of a confused brain with math symbols above it. I added this to highlight the problem of students failing math to their mental health. Besides that I have no tables, graphs, or charts.
The word choice I use in this Infographic is simple and straight to the point. I keep it very basic and informative at the same time. For the title I simply say “Diving into Math Problem, What’s the Solution?” A combination of the title of the original document for the Infographic title. In the document for each textbook I put 3 bullets and had 1 sentence behind each bullet. The font I used is IBM Plex Sans. The colors I used were brown because it contrasted the light colors. The reason I used this font is because it is basic and very professional. For the titles I used Space Grotesk. The color for the title is white. I also had a subtitle which I had in black font. For the grammar in the first box I repeated “This affects’ ‘ for 3 different examples. In the second box I wrote 3 reasons why the solution I provided is the best one. The final box I provided other solutions that aren’t as good as the best solution. For the whole infographic I had a basic, yet professional layout.

Reflection:
In the infographic itself I kept it very basic. I definitely could have added more detail, and more information. I had a very basic and light color for my overall infographic. I also added only 1 picture to the document. I used 3 other photos from Piktochart. Other than that I don’t have that many designs and extra decorations. In my explanation essay I begin with the introduction. In the introduction paragraph I described why I chose the problem solution essay. I added good detail to this paragraph and explained it very well. For my thesis I think I did ok with it. I described what I will do for the whole paragraph. I could have done better with my thesis statement. For my second paragraph I explained my design for my whole infographic. I also describe my fonts and also the word and textbox colorway. I also go into detail about the pictures I have in the infographic. I definitely could have added more pictures in the infographic. For my word choice in the infographic I could have added more complex or detailed words into the infographic. In the essay however I had some more detailed vocabulary. I made the infographic very straight to the point and short, but in the explanation essay I added much more information and detail. Overall my infographic could have had more designs and detail in it, but my exclamation essay was much more detailed and explained my infographic very well. If there is something I could change it would definitely be adding more detail to my infographic.
