Linux system for cybersecurity
This course is designed to help students develop practical knowledge and skills in using Linux systems for cybersecurity. It introduces students to major Linux distributions, including Kali Linux, and provides experience using both graphical and command-line interfaces. Students will learn how to install and configure Linux systems, manage files and directories, work with shell scripts, configure networks, manage users and authentication, and perform basic system administration. The course also provides hands-on experience with cybersecurity tasks such as footprinting, firewall configuration, intrusion detection, and other Linux security tools.
After completing this course, a student will be able to:
- Identify and understand different Linux distributions and how they are used in cybersecurity.
- Install, configure, and operate Linux systems locally, remotely, and in cloud environments such as AWS.
- Understand and manage Linux file systems, including file and directory ownership and permissions.
- Use the Linux command-line interface to perform essential system administration tasks.
- Write and use shell scripts to automate tasks within Linux systems.
- Perform system administration functions such as network configuration, process management, log management, and software management.
- Manage users, permissions, and authentication to help protect Linux systems.
- Perform cybersecurity tasks using Linux, including footprinting, firewall configuration, and intrusion detection.
- Apply Linux security tools and techniques to identify potential threats and improve system security.
