Maslow’s hierarchy and the experience with technology:

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs describes the individual relationships between behavior and action. These needs can be listed as: self-actualization, esteem, belongingness and love, safety, and physiological needs. We can apply Maslow’s theories upon the motivations of cyberattacks, whether it be from the cyber experts or the cyber criminals. In cybersecurity, there are many needs that must be met as well, top secure that foundation and security of networks and organizations.

Self-actualization Attackers will display a high level of skills as they successfully execute a cyber attack. For cyber experts they aim to improve their current skills and earn even higher achievements. For example, working on projects and assignments to improve both technical and professional skills.

I find this to one of the needs I have the most experience with. As we travel into an increasingly digital-reliant world, the necessity for cybersecurity grows alongside it. I have taken up the interest in learning how I can contribute to the security conducted online. Through this specific needs, I strive to learn the foundational skills needed to provide society with the proper standards and expectations for our networks and systems.
