Course Description
This three credit-hour course provides an introduction to the foundational history, concepts, theories, strategies, and applications of interdisciplinary studies. This six-week online, asynchronous, and writing-intensive course utilizes the 10-STEP interdisciplinary research process (IRP) model of Repko and Szostak (2021). Course Learning Outcomes
- Investigate the core concepts, terms, ideas, and theories of the field of interdisciplinary studies.
- Apply Repko & Szostak’s (2021) 10-STEP model to the interdisciplinary research process (IRP).
- Develop the ability to use an interdisciplinary research process and create an interdisciplinary product.
- Explore and apply appropriate interdisciplinary strategies to broaden and enrich critical thinking, learning, and problem-solving skills in the course and beyond.
- Improve writing skills.
Examine the interdisciplinary nature of education and work.
