Entry #6

Cyber technology could cause some employees to lead to workplace deviance by causing complacency among the company. In today’s times some routines may be repetitive and cause some employees to repeat various actions without accurately verifying the information in front of them. This can be due to fatigue or lack of motivation. Many companies have been focused on the error in cyber technology instead of human error which has caused majority of company losses. Procrastinating on software updates and security patches puts computers at a greater risk of being hacked by the adversary. On top of that employees may fall for phishing emails that may give the adversary access to critical information about the company itself. Awareness training often overloads an employee’s head with information that can cause them to only focus on certain key points. This could cause them to not pay attention throughout the whole training time putting the company more at risk. Without any type of feedback, the training will more than likely stay the same and the information absorption of the employees will lower within time. Another issue that can cause deviance is the reliance on artificial intelligence. This because AI isn’t fully developed and can fail at any time. It’s not able to carry out all its duties and constantly has errors. Human judgement is necessary when carrying out everyday task. Allowing humans to make mistakes is essential so that those mistakes can be closely studied in order to find a remedy for that mistake. Instead of allowing employees to choose how they want to log onto a workstation, the company should have default verification factors for the employee in order to avoid weak passwords. The lack of deadlines to when updates need to be installed can cause workers to continually put off software installations, so the cycle is never ending in some cases.
