The Systems of SCADA
What SCADA means is Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. Which is used to manage
infrastructures and is a Industrial Control System or otherwise known as ICS. The SCADA
systems usually deal with human interfaces and the way the data proceeds.Another important
part of the system is how the data gets collected that is most important. Something that is the
devices used to control the fields. Even though the Scada system runs on real time not
everything that is done with the control is direct.
The SCADA systems are distributed, centralized and or sophisticated systems that are used
to watch or monitor and managed the region and whole location.With minimal host intervention
for supervisory duties or overrides, the majority of control operations are managed automatically
by Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Timestamp-value
pairs are used to store points, and each point’s history is provided by these series. Each point’s
tag typically contains additional metadata, such as design comments, alarm details, device
pathways, or PLC registers.
In SCADA systems, the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) has a sketching tool that operators
or maintenance staff use to change the interface’s point representations. These representations

can be as basic as an on-screen traffic signal or as sophisticated as multi-projector screens that
show the whereabouts of elevators or trains.
Major PLC manufacturers have been offering open communication protocols and integrated
HMI/SCADA systems since 1998.The technicians and engineers can help and configure the
HMIs without needing the bespoke programming . Due to the third party Scada Packages with
the plc..
Even connecting to real equipment the electrical signals have the valve status up.. By
sending signals, it can also control equipment, changing pump speed or opening/closing valves.
A supervisory station consists of servers and software that link to HMI software on
workstations in the control room and communicate with field equipment (PLCs, RTUs) .Even
though the bigger SCADA systems are having more servers. As well as the distributing the applications and it all leads to one pc. The server can be set with dual redundancy.
