For the first article with the title of the guy behind scaping, I would give his reason a score of seven, with seven being the lowest possible score, because he did not have a purpose; rather, he did what he did because he was bored, and what he did was his method of entertaining himself and having fun. I would place the desire for money as the sixth most important driving force because it is something that virtually everyone in the world covets and because it is a motivating factor that most people can relate to. I would place the motivation with political as the fifth most important factor because of the motive there; however, the motive is not as significant as you would categorize it with the other factors. I would place recognition at the fourth spot on the list due to the fact that everyone desires attention and the desire to be acknowledged is a universal motivation with no discernible reason. I would place the article with the heading Cyberbullying and online sexual grooming at number three on my list since the purpose of the behavior was to tarnish the child’s reputation. The article “Sex, Drugs, and Toilet Rolls: How Cybercriminals Spend Their Money” describes how cybercriminals spend their money (Infographic) The fact that the criminal is exclusively concerned with himself and the benefits he may get from engaging in illicit activity leads me to place this as the second most common motivation for criminal activity. I would place the goal of getting celebrity exclusive explicit footage out into the public domain as the second most important factor in the motivation for the act of retribution. This is due to the fact that the goal is clear and concise. Because a motive can have more than one justification, such as having a difficult childhood or wishing to exact retribution on businesses, I believe it is appropriate to give it the position of number one on my list. Since a motive can have an indefinite lifespan, I believe it is appropriate to give it this status.
